Rosemount 8712

Rosemount 8712 is an electromagnetic flowmeter designed based on the Faraday electromagnetic induction principle. It is used to measure the volume flow of conductive liquids. It can measure flow in both directions and output multiple variables. In addition to flow, it can also output conductivity and temperature (PT100 is required). Low power consumption design, suitable for battery-powered or energy-saving applications.

• It can maintain high accuracy of ±0.2% even under low flow rate or pulsating flow conditions, and achieve long-term stable measurement.
• The lining or electrode can be replaced without disassembling the pipeline, which greatly reduces maintenance costs. The split transmitter can be installed remotely and is suitable for high temperature or hazardous environments.
• It supports multiple communication protocols such as HART, PROFIBUS PA/DP, Foundation Fieldbus, etc., seamlessly integrates DCS/PLC systems, supports remote configuration and monitoring, and improves the level of factory intelligence.
• Electrode contamination detection, early warning of scaling or coating problems. Empty pipe detection automatically identifies whether the pipeline is full of liquid to avoid mismeasurement.
• Built-in storage function, records historical data for analysis.

• Ensure full pipe state during installation to avoid bubble accumulation; upstream straight pipe section ≥5D, downstream ≥2D.
• Grounding protection must be done to prevent electromagnetic interference from affecting the signal. ATEX/IECEx certified models must be selected for hazardous areas.
• Fluid conductivity must be ≥5 μS/cm, not suitable for oil or gas.
• It is recommended to perform zero calibration once every 12 months, especially after the medium composition changes.

When the medium of the Rosemount 8712 flows through the magnetic field, a voltage signal proportional to the flow rate is induced on the electrode. By measuring this voltage value and combining it with the cross-sectional area of ​​the pipe, the volume flow rate can be calculated. Its design with no moving parts and low pressure loss can be used in the chemical, water treatment, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and other industries.
